Mr. Benjamin Baker BMedSci, BMBS, MRCS, PGCert(MedEd), MBA, FRCS(Plast) is an award-winning Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon and one of the UK’s leading experts in aesthetic surgery, and complex reconstructive procedures. Based in Manchester, he is known for his patient-focused approach, innovation, and commitment to achieving natural results that last; providing world-class care in facilities that meet his high standards.
One of only a handful of plastic surgeons dual-qualified in both reconstructive and oncological breast surgery, Ben completed his UK specialist training and gained additional fellowship and Consultant experience internationally. He completed a prestigious national oncoplastic breast surgery fellowship in Newcastle, followed by an advanced international fellowship in reconstructive oncology at the world-renowned Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, where he refined his expertise in tissue transplantation for breast reconstruction – including DIEP and thigh flap techniques.
In the NHS, Ben specialises in oncoplastic and microvascular breast reconstruction, working within Europe’s largest breast surgery service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and is one of the highest volume microvascular reconstructive surgeons in the UK. His expertise also extends to treatment of skin lesions, including skin cancer, and reconstruction for patients with head and neck cancer, sarcoma, and colorectal malignancies.
His private practice at The Alexandra Hospital, and The Christie Private Care encompasses aesthetic surgery, treatment of skin lesions and the full scope of complex reconstructive procedures including microvascular breast reconstruction (DIEP & thigh flaps).

Breast surgery may be combined with abdominal contouring as part of a ‘mummy makeover’. Benjamin has extensive experience in microsurgery and complex tissue reconstruction, including for breast cancer, skin cancer, sarcoma, colorectal cancer, and head and neck malignancies. He is one of the few plastic surgeons with dual expertise in reconstructive and oncological breast surgery, offering breast reconstruction using microsurgical techniques, including tissue transfer from the abdomen (DIEP flap) or thighs for natural, lasting results.

Benjamin has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of skin conditions, having managed a high volume of cases during his international fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. He provides expert care for a wide range of concerns, including benign skin lesions, lipomas, basal cell carcinoma (rodent ulcer), squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. His focus is on achieving complete removal whilst minimising the impact of surgical scars, and the risk of needing further treatment. He also offers scar revision procedures to optimise their appearance and address functional limitations.
